Se espera la participación de los equipos nacionales de Argentina, Aruba, Belice, Brasil, Canadá, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Estados Unidos, Guatemala, Islas Vírgenes USA, Islas Vírgenes Británicas, México, Perú, República Dominicana y Venezuela y por supuesto, Puerto Rico.
"Para nosotros es un orgullo inmenso el ser anfitriones de un evento en el que competirán tres equipos clasificados entre los mejores ocho del mundo. Estos son Estados Unidos, Canadá y Puerto Rico. La fanaticada del softbol va a disfrutar de un verdadero banquete deportivo", manifestó el presidente de la Federación de Sóftbol de Puerto Rico, Tommy Velázquez.
Este torneo une dos confederaciones, la Centroamericana (CONCACAS) y la Panamericana (CONPASA), de manera que el mismo servirá de clasificatorio tanto para los próximos Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe (Veracruz, México 2014) como para los Juegos Panamericanos de 2015 en Toronto, Canadá. Los países que finalicen en las primeras seis posiciones asegurarán su participación en ambos eventos del ciclo olímpico.
Simultáneamente, se estará clasificando para el mundial del próximo año. Es decir, de Guaynabo saldrán los 5 países que representarán a América en el Campeonato Mundial de Sóftbol Femenino a celebrarse en Harlem, Holanda 2014.
